Eye care specialists note growing importance of eyewear style

Most everyone knows that eyewear serves an important function when it comes to improving one's vision. According to The Salt Lake Tribune, eye glasses can also be an important part of one's wardrobe.

The news source reports that opticians are seeing an increase in a demand for bold eyeglasses that make a statement. Eyecare specialist Melissa Moss claims that there is a wide array of styles that are popular among the public, but that color is a large factor.

"Anything that makes a statement," Moss told the news provider. "It's all about color."

While Moss claims people are choosing many different types of frames, the news outlet reports that oversized plastic frames from the 1980s are making a comeback, along with eyewear that features a heavy plastic top rim reminiscent of the '50s. For those over the age of 40, rimless and semi-rimless styles are especially popular.

Regardless of the style one chooses, proper eye care is important. The American Optometric Association advocates that those who wear eyeglasses should schedule a comprehensive eye exam every year to ensure that their prescription is up-to-date.
