Mad Men inspires popular trend in eyewear

Although thick-rimmed eyeglasses have sometimes been stigmatized as being nerdy or uncool, the specs sported on the popular AMC show Mad Men has lead to a resurgence of the look, according to the Houston Chronicle.

"The look has been around for men for a few years, but it's become more fashionable for women," industry insider Kristie Weiss told the news provider. "It has a 1950s feel, sort of Mad Men inspired."

The glamorous geek look has taken off among celebrities as well. The fashion editor of Lucky magazine, Jackie Nasser, told the news outlet that stars such as Justin Timberlake, Hilary Duff and Scarlett Johansson are all jumping on the trend. Fashion experts add that the most popular styles this fall will be a slight cat eye for women and large, rectangular shapes for men.

Those looking to incorporate this look into their wardrobes may want to consider doing so with sunglasses. AllAboutVision.com advises that sunglasses should block out 99 to 100 percent of UV rays and 75 to 90 percent of all visible light.ADNFCR-3386-ID-19928477-ADNFCR
