Older styles making comeback in sunglasses

A new trend in eyewear is leading people to look backward in time. The Austin-American Statesman reports that over the past year, vintage style sunglasses have become increasingly popular, which has some individuals looking like they walked straight out of a scene from Mad Men.

According to the news provider, the rebirth of styles from the 50s and 60s is indictive of how cyclical fashion can be.

"There's definitely a revival of retro, and I think it will always be strong in the Austin market," optician John Cavanaugh told the news source. "Trends do evolve, and eventually everything old is new again."

Cavanaugh added that many people are looking for large-framed glasses like the ones that were made popular by Buddy Holly and Malcom X. AllAboutVision.com states that classic aviator frames are gaining popularity as well. Although the style has been around for years, the iconic teardrop shape originated during World War II for fighter piltos.

Whether one is looking for a in-vogue retro look or a more contemporary style, sunglasses are in important part of protecting ones eyes from damage. The American Optometric Association recommends purchasing sunglasses that block 99 to 100 percent of UV rays.ADNFCR-3386-ID-19902187-ADNFCR
